The client is a high-end equipment manufacturing enterprise that needs to mass-produce large-diameter S-shaped stainless steel bend assemblies. These assemblies are used in fluid transport systems and have extremely high requirements for welding precision, geometric tolerances, and surface quality. Traditional welding fixtures suffer from cumbersome clamping, poor positioning accuracy, and weak versatility, resulting in low production efficiency, high scrap rates, and inability to meet batch delivery requirements.
Our company (Wuxi Laima) customized a comprehensive solution based on a 3D flexible welding platform for the client:
A modular 3D welding platform is adopted. The platform surface is uniformly distributed with high-precision positioning holes. Combined with standard accessories such as quick-locking pins, positioning blocks, V-shaped supports, and quick clamps, rapid positioning and clamping of the bend assemblies are achieved.
A segmented positioning scheme is designed for the special structure of the S-shaped bend: the front straight pipe section is fixed with V-shaped supports and quick clamps; the middle bend section is supported by adjustable supports; and the rear flange section is precisely aligned with the flange holes using positioning pins, ensuring coaxiality and angular accuracy of each segment.
Operators can complete the positioning and locking of the pipe bending assembly in just 15 minutes, reducing clamping time by 60% compared to traditional tooling.
The platform boasts high rigidity and excellent deformation resistance, effectively suppressing thermal deformation during welding and ensuring pipe straightness ≤0.5mm/m and flange parallelism ≤0.3mm.
For pipe bending of different specifications, only some positioning accessories need to be replaced, and tooling changeover can be completed in 10 minutes, enabling multi-variety, small-batch production.
