Surface Nitriding Technology
Three-Layer Nitrided Structure:
- Outermost layer: Oxidation-resistant layer (matte grey-black) that blocks moisture and weld spatter
- Intermediate layer: Wear-resistant hardened layer (HV 450-630, 0.25-0.35 mm thick)
- Base layer: Q355 steel (high toughness, fracture-resistant)
Appearance Note: The new tabletop features a uniform matte grey finish; slight local variations in shade are normal characteristics of the nitriding process and do not affect precision or wear resistance. Do not grind or polish the surface, as this removes the hardened layer, leading to premature scratching and rusting.
High-Temperature Performance: Withstands short-term arc exposure at 1300°C without peeling or flaking; unlike standard painted surfaces—which peel, flake, and rust under high heat—this nitrided surface has no coating to delaminate.
Weld Spatter Removal: Molten spatter shrinks and detaches upon cooling; it can be removed with a light brush and does not fuse firmly to the tabletop, significantly reducing grinding time.
